CPD Case #2015-007306 & 2015-008981
On 7/5/15 at 11:15 A.M., University of Missouri Officers along with the City of Columbia Park Ranger were dispatched to a sexual misconduct on the Hinkson Creek Trail near Capen Bridge and Rock Quarry Road. The investigation revealed a female victim was running on the trail when a Hispanic male or a black male was riding a small dark colored bicycle. The suspect kept passing the victim back and forth while she was running on the trail.
When she neared Capen Bridge, the suspect grabbed her butt and kept riding his bicycle ahead of her on the trail. The victim was running near Hinkson Field on the Trail when she observed the same suspect masturbating. The victim ran to an emergency phone on the University of Missouri Campus to contact the University of Missouri Police Department (MUPD). MUPD had officers on bicycle who were unable to locate the suspect. MUPD has turned over the investigation to the City of Columbia Park Ranger. The investigation is ongoing. (CPD Case #2015-007306)
On 8/14/15 at 12:33 P.M., officers and a park ranger were dispatched to the MKT Trail between Scott Boulevard and Twin Lakes Trail Head in reference to an indecency report. The investigation revealed a female victim was jogging on the trail when a Hispanic male on a bicycle rode past her, grabbed her butt, and rode on.
At 12:48 P.M., Public Safety Joint Communications received another report of indecency on the MKT Trail between Forum Nature Area and the 3M Wetlands Area. The investigation of this report revealed as female victim was walking the trail, a Hispanic male on a dark colored bicycle rode past her, stopped, dropped his pants and exposed himself. The victim proceeded to turn around and run away from the suspect. The suspect followed the victim on his bicycle for a short distance before stopping.
The suspect description in these incidents are similar. The suspect is described a Hispanic male in his early twenties, approximately 6’1″ weighing 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and khaki colored pants. (CPD Case #2015-008981)
CPD has urged trail users to be alert and report suspicious activity or people immediately to law enforcement. CrimeStoppers is offering a reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspect(s).
