As Columbia Police officers responded to the 1500 block of Sylvan Lane the night of April 25, 2016, they located a male with a gunshot wound. Moments later, that victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel, marking the first homicide in Columbia in 2016.
The victim was identified on April 26, 2016 as 24-year-old Gabrielle D. Rhodes, Jr.
Columbia Police Department is asking for any information leading up to or about the homicide. They say Public Safety Joint Communications received several calls about shots fired in the area prior to officers arrival. Per media reports there were also several people present in the area after the shooting.
