CrimeStoppers is offering cash rewards for tips identifying and/or assisting in locating possible suspects of crimes observed on video surveillance. Closed-circuit television (CCTV), known as video surveillance, assists law enforcement clear several crimes every day. There are some instances, however, when identifying the possible suspect and/or suspect vehicle in the video may be difficult. CrimeStoppers is committed to partnering with the community to assist law enforcement in clearing these cases. As a collaborative effort between local law enforcement and CrimeStoppers, agencies are providing CrimeStoppers with video surveillance and/or photos of possible suspects and/or suspect vehicles which CrimeStoppers will post to our website. The Columbia Police Department is asking for your assistance in identifying the suspect in this surveillance video.

On September 8, 2017, Columbia Police officers responded to a home in the 900 block of Hope Place for a reported home invasion robbery.

Multiple parks in Columbia have been targeted by thieves recently for copper. The Columbia/Boone County CrimeStoppers Board of Directors has agreed to offer a cash reward for tips leading to an arrest of the suspect(s) in these crimes. Reward amounts range up to $400 and tipsters remain completely anonymous.

For the first time in its 35-year existence, the Columbia CrimeStoppers program has adjusted its reward policy to accept personally-donated funds earmarked for solving a specific crime. In June of 2016, Edmond Randolph, Jr. was murdered in Columbia, and though police have aggressively worked the case since, no tips or information have yet led to an arrest. Late last week, an anonymous donor offered an additional $5,000 in reward money to be paid for any tip leading to the arrest of Randolph’s killer. The offer prompted the CrimeStopper board to adjust its policy going forward with regard to paying out cash for anonymous tips on specific crimes.

On 10/31/14 at approximately 1:09 A.M., Columbia Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to a fire at 2102 Garth Avenue, Parkade Baptist Church. On 11/16/14 at approximately 4:54 A.M., CFD and CPD were dispatched to a fire at 1610 N. Garth Avenue, Bach Yager Funeral Home.

Since June 25, 2014, five people have been shot in Boone County, four in central Columbia, and police have been dispatched to 25 reports of shots fired.
