In November of 2009, Columbia Police investigated a report of stolen wheels and tires, from the lot of Joe Machens Auto, located at 500 Vandiver Drive, in Columbia. Wheels, tires, and bolts were all stolen from two Mercedes, two Cadillacs, and one Chevrolet Corvette, on the lot. The total value of the stolen parts was $24,000.00
On Monday, January 11, 2010, Columbia Police officers investigated a report of stolen wheels and tires from the lot of Bob McCosh Chevrolet, located at #1 East Business Loop 70, in Columbia. In this case, wheels and tires were stolen from three Chevrolet Avalanches and five Chevrolet Tahoes. The total value of the stolen wheels and tires in this case was $21,440.00

Investigators have received information that similar thefts may have occurred in the Metro Saint Louis area.

Police are contacting area car dealerships to warn them about the thefts and provide input on how to enhance security. Anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to call the police department at 874-7652 or Crime Stoppers at 875-tips. North Bureau Commander, Captain Brad Nelson said, “Although these types of thefts are unusual, we will use every available resource to apprehend those responsible.”
